Artist's Description
Hard to discern through the jewelike colors the original subject in this image is the drive wheel of a German WWII Panther Tank. I like to take an image that is associated with death and destruction and turn it to one of color and lightness. Looking for the image within the subject is one of my favorite pastimes. There are so many interesting images that are never noticed in the daily rush, I like to share my visions so that others might see what they may have missed.
About Ben Freeman
I have been drawing things since I was a kid, and got into photography way before there were digital cameras, but didn't get serious about my art until around 1978. I studied on my own for a bit, then got a bachelor's degree in art from Sacramento State University in Sacramento CA in 1982. I have worked in many different mediums along the way mainly because one would not satisfy all of my artistic ideas. I have worked in glass engraving, jade carving, sculpture, photography, textiles, cloisonne, ceramics, and watercolors. I also have worked as an artist in the sign industry for about 15 years, and you can occasionally see that aspect in a few of my images which have a more commercial feel.
