Artist's Description

An interesting study in contrast of surface textures and color. Aging structures hold some really delightful images as time does interesting things to the architectural elements. It has a minimalist flavor to it....simple yet having a beauty all its own. From my series on the Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

About Ben Freeman

Ben Freeman

I have been drawing things since I was a kid, and got into photography way before there were digital cameras, but didn't get serious about my art until around 1978. I studied on my own for a bit, then got a bachelor's degree in art from Sacramento State University in Sacramento CA in 1982. I have worked in many different mediums along the way mainly because one would not satisfy all of my artistic ideas. I have worked in glass engraving, jade carving, sculpture, photography, textiles, cloisonne, ceramics, and watercolors. I also have worked as an artist in the sign industry for about 15 years, and you can occasionally see that aspect in a few of my images which have a more commercial feel. I am now working with digital photography...
