This is my attempt to express not only the damage done to the people of Vietnam during the war, but the damage that occurs within the person who takes part in war and the killing of others.
About Ben Freeman
I have been drawing things since I was a kid, and got into photography way before there were digital cameras, but didn't get serious about my art until around 1978. I studied on my own for a bit, then got a bachelor's degree in art from Sacramento State University in Sacramento CA in 1982. I forgot to mention that I am a Vietnam veteran and this and the other Vietnam images are based on my own experiences in that war. It is on the dark side, but that particular war , and most wars for that matter, had a pretty big dark side. Wars are never really just....folks innocent and not so innocent get killed in them. Some veterans were as human as one can be in such situations, but some did not act humanly at all and took advantage of the war to be exceptionally cruel to many who did not deserve it. We all deal with the fact that most of us killed folks....some deal with it well and others not so much. I had to face the fact that I had indeed become death, and this image shows the feelings involved pretty well.

I have great respect and appreciation for our veterans; I don't know if this paints them in the light that they deserve.

This is a very creepy picture
